Microsoft OCS RCC Gateway for Panasonic Digital PBX
The demand for more efficient and productive communications has triggered major advances in Unified Communications (UC), driving the integration of what were once separate silos - information technology, communications, and application software.
Connect NZ lead the New Zealand market in Unified Communications. A key requirement of successful UC integration is to enable users to place an audio or video call, send an instant message (IM), or check a user's presence - all through a single integrated interface.
Connect NZ recognizes that every organisation has a different approach and a unique roadmap for UC. As a result, we have produced a unique, scalable offering, so even the smallest of customers can affordably use the full functionality of Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS).
Connect NZ's RCC Gateway has been designed so IT groups remain in control of their UC migration with the opportunity to leverage existing Microsoft OCS infrastructure, thus enabling end-users to continue using Microsoft Office Communicator, while taking advantage of the rich functionality in the Connect NZ UC System. |

Telephony presence: avoid endless phone tag
Anyone who has ever played phone, IM or email tag to try to finish up important tasks, knows how much more productive and efficient it would have been if they could receive an alert when the person they were trying to reach became free. By integrating Connect NZ's true telephone presence capabilities into Microsoft OCS you are delivered information in real time. Users can simply flag someone (shown in Microsoft Office Communicator) and receive an instant notification when presence status changes from "in a call" to "available". Tasks can then be accomplished in a timely and efficient manner.
For organisations that do not have the time or resources to implement and train users in Microsoft Office Communicator, the Connect NZ RCC Gateway delivers telephony presence across Microsoft Office 2007 applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint and Powerpoint. Users simply check the presence icon next to the name of the person they want to reach, right click, and select to flag this contact for presence information - it's that simple!
Personalise the UC experience
Human communication is very personal: some people are very visual, while others are more auditory. Connect NZ understands that everyone has a preferred way of connecting with others, and recognises that people within the same organisation use communication tools differently. Some naturally tend to be more phone centric, while others are more computer oriented. For this reason, a successful integration depends on consistency between the phone display and keys, and the computer interfaces. Some phone-centric users may prefer to ignore the desktop interface all together, and can depend on the system to automatically update telephony presence.
Telephony to your desktop users, receptionist and handheld devices
Telephony features in Microsoft Office Communicator, enabled by Connect NZ RCC Gateway, bring benefits to application centric users by delivering telephony features to their MS desktop. However, other users may require operator/ attendant console functionality for advanced call control. Other mobile users may require the visibility and functionality delivered to their Windows mobile cellphone.
The Connect NZ UC system leverages the MS OCS application to drive IM and deliver IM presence to all these devices, deploying the best fit to match the user's need, and taking advantage of both systems without compromising end-user satisfaction.

Still use your phone system with no server
The Connect NZ RCC Gateway enables you to continue to use your fully functional phone system even when your OCS server is turned off. Nothing is lost, nothing is changed and your customer experience via phone will not alter at all. All voicemail, hunt groups, call routing etc will remain consistent even in the event of a full MS server failure.
Minimum requirements are just that
The Connect NZ RCC Gateway allows for OCS to control the functionality of your phone system. What it does not do is put any voice traffic anywhere near your network. This is unique in the sense that for small organisations they can install OCS and the Connect NZ RCC Gateway on their regular server with no need to purchase anymore hardware. The overhead on PC's is negligible and the solution works fully within a terminal service environment. No VoIP switching is required, no traffic shaping and management are needed. Multiple sites is fully supported even within this thin hardware requirement.
